Kristina Stone Kaiser
Kristina and her husband, Dominic, have three children. Before participating in the founding of The River, Kristina worked as an assistant pastor, serving in many capacities which ranged from Sunday services prep to local community outreach and international initiatives. Kristina was born in Central Wisconsin, growing up with 4 sisters and 1 brother. She attended the University of Wisconsin—Oshkosh and then moved to Massachusetts when she attended New England Conservatory for a Master of Music. When not working, Kristina likes to catch up on favorite shows or new movies.
Kristina grew up believing in God, but she first experienced God as a relational God in her late teens. From that point on, she had a sense that what she really wanted to do would have something to do with connecting others to God in a tangible way.
Dominic Stone Kaiser
Dominic also grew up in Central Wisconsin with 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Dominic joined Kristina at the University of Wisconsin—Oshkosh where he studied sound engineering. Dominic experienced God as a relational God about the same time as Kristina did and a lot of their connecting points in the early parts of their relationship were at the church they both attended. Being gifted in both music and technology, Dominic spends a good portion of his time fixing computers, playing drums, and playing guitar. In his spare time, he likes to try his hand at bread making, writing songs, and learning computer languages.
Cafe Services Overseer
With her God-given talent for organization, Judy coordinates the logistics of The River’s weekly café services, including training and overseeing volunteers, ensuring quality control of café setup, and maintaining inventory. In addition to overseeing café services, Judy also organizes The River South Center’s annual arts festival, coordinates the Spring Into Reading program, and participates as a judge in the Stories by the River Film Festival.
Judy currently works in the world of academia at Boston college and absolutely loves it! She is both a book worm and a film buff and enjoys live musical and theatrical performances, visiting museums and historical homes, creating collages, and watching football — Go Pats!
Laura helps out with administrative tasks such as emails and spreadsheets. Having moved from Minnesota in 2015 mainly to be a part of The River, she finds it fun to be a part of the inner workings of this church! In her spare time, she enjoys mountain biking, hanging out with her girlfriend, exploring the area, and working at Starbucks.
Mikel J. Wisler
Mikel leads the worship team, organizing the music for each Sunday morning service and helping bring together a variety of styles of worship music for our diverse community at The River. Born in Brazil to American missionary parents, he grew up in a multicultural world and discovered God at work early in life and in all kinds of creative ways, both inside the church and out. By trade, Mikel is a filmmaker and regularly works on commercial projects as a cinematographer, director, or editor as well as writing and directing narrative film projects of his own and writing the occasional book (you know, as time allows). Having taken a break from worship leading for several years, Mikel rediscovered a passion for the expression of both intellectual and emotional truth through music at The River. Being a strong believer in worship as a way of seeing the world, not just songs sung on a Sunday morning, Mikel has long sought to see every activity as an opportunity to worship Christ and serve people. No small task for sure!
Mikel is married and has a young daughter with whom he spends his days. When he can manage it, he loves to read everything from sci-fi short stories and Batman graphic novels to philosophy and theology. One of his biggest passions is the exploration of life's meaning through stories, which is why he loves movies and books as great experiences that can spark amazingly profound reflections and conversations. Otherwise, he just sits around and fantasizes about being an astronaut.
