Ephesians 1:4-6 (MSG)
Long before God laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son.
Points of Interest
• It’s striking to consider how God’s love for us must have influenced what God created as God “laid down the earth’s foundations”. Perhaps this is why there are things in nature that move us so deeply: the ocean, a walk in the forest, a sunset, a field of flowers. It’s a creation that was created with us (and our enjoyment of it!) in mind. When thought of in that way, it suddenly seems as if evidence of God’s love for us is literally everywhere.
Taking it Home
Take a moment to thank God for the aspects of nature that move you. As you are reflecting on how much God loves you, let that encourage you as you pray for the things you’ve been asking for over this 40 days.
For your “at least one”
Ask God to help your “at least one hear echoes of God’s love as they start to notice the signs of spring!
For our church
God loves us! What an amazing thing! Pray that the Holy Spirit would fill us with God’s love so that our church can be a place where love overflows.
