Week 6, Day 6

Today will mark the final day of our Bible Guide. Join us for our Easter Potluck Brunch & Service Tomorrow at 10:30am as we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection!

Spiritual Exercise

We have been focusing on love all week. We’ve talked about God’s love for us, how God made creation for us to enjoy, how God will care for us no matter what, and how God’s Holy Spirit is the conduit for all of this love.

As we ponder the love of God for us, miraculous things happen, healing among them. And as we experience that goodness (that glory of God,) our heart fill with love for others. We want them to be able to have their own experience of God’s goodness!

And it always starts with one.

So today, first take a moment to receive from God yourself. Pray for your 40 Days Prayer. Pay attention to where you feel contentment. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you.

And after you’ve done that, pick one person in your life – maybe ask God to show you who this should be – and ask them an open-ended question that would help you know and understand them better. An example might be, “What’s the most exciting thing in your life right now?” Or, “What is one thing you’ve always wanted to do?

Listen carefully to what they are saying without offering advice or adding your own experiences to theirs. Just hear their story. Ask follow up questions if it would be appropriate to do so.

It’s a great feeling to know that someone wants to know something about you, that they actually are interested in your story. It’s easy to feel half-listened to, especially with so many things that vie for our attention – phones dinging, people asking us for things, various dialogues running through our own heads! Give someone the gift of being listened to today as an act of love. Let that love of God overflow from you today.

Bless you all!  May the Lord bless you and keep you! May the Lord’s face shine on you and give you peace! In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
